Review: GlamGlow

SUPERMUD CLEARING TREATMENT

I have been seeing the GlAMGLOW everywhere for the past little while but mostly about the exfoliating treatment rather than the clearing treatment. While shopping at Sephora the other day I finally decided to pick one up and give it a try.  My brother did the first trial as he has been struggling with blackheads and pores. The experience was pretty interesting as the clay dries up and you see black spots appearing. He left it on for about 20mins before washing it off.

Texture: Ash grey diluted cream like consistency
Price: $69 CAD
Packaging: 3.5/5 (Love the "HELLO SEXY")
Volume: 1.2 fl oz
Scent: Minty Lavender
Rating: 2/5

RESULT: It was abit drying for my brother and didn't really do too much for him. It did clear it up ever so slightly and as indicated in the photos the white heads are less bumpy.

Will I repurchase this: No, because in comparison to a similar mask that I purchased at Sephora last year, this was not as effective. I will have a review up on this mask once I return to Asia from my vacation since I don't remember the brand.

Review: Clinique Moisturizers

MOISTURE SURGE EXTENDED THIRST RELIEF GEL

I have always been a big fan of Clinique's Moisture Surge and their concept of dermatologist-created skincare.

As Hong Kong's is very humid, hot and stuffy in the summer, My skin gets really oily. Clinique's Moisture Surge is my go to product for the summer, a totally life saver. It's light and does its job. However it's just not quite enough for the winter therefore I purchased the intense version hoping it would satisfy my skin.

Texture: pink peachy gel
Price: 49.5 USD
Volume: 2.5 oz
Rating: 4/5

PROS:                                                                    CONS:
-Unscented                                                         -not rich enough for the winter
    -light
    -absorbs quickly

MOISTURE SURGE INTENSE SKIN FORTIFYING HYDRATOR

While I loved the moisture surge gel, the extended thirst was a disappointment.  Knowing that it was a richer creme that contains more nutrients, I used it as a night cream. Yet it was too heavy, even using the tiniest amount possible to spread over the entire face, it made my face feel greasy and shiny. There was also an unpleasant, plastic scent to it which I disliked very much. However I do see this product suitable for someone with extremely dry skin, or where it is very cold and dry in the winter but definitely not suitable for places in Asia like Hong Kong.

Texture: White Creme
Price: 49.5 USD
Volume: 2.5 oz
Rating: 2/5
PROS:                                                                    CONS:
    -very rich                                                            -unpleasant scent
                                                                                  -caused slight break out
                                                                                  -only suitable for night cream

DERMA WHITE BRIGHTENING MOISTURE GEL CREAM

As my mother was purchasing their new chubby sticks, I decided to try their Derma White moisturizer.  It was richer moisturizer than the moisture surge and it brightens and evens out your skin tone. I have been using it daily day and night for the past month weeks now.

Texture: Creme-gel
Price: 49.5 USD
Volume: 2.5 oz
Rating: 3.8/5
PROS:
    -unscented
-light but not as light as the moisture surge
-I did see a light difference interms of brightening my skin
-can be used as day and night creme
    -absorbs quickly

CONS:
-not rich enough for those one or two colder/dryer days (I had to use a light serum in
      addition)
-not suitable for places with colder winters
Left to Right: Moisture surge intense skin, Moisture surge extended, Derma white

Review: Fresh, Lancome, Caudalie

Just finished my second tube of Fresh soy cleanser.  I've been using this day and night either with my Clarisonic mia or just my hands for atleast a good year and in between I have also used up the Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser. Finishing the Fresh cleanser I recently purchased Lancome's Mousse Eclat because after using Caudalie I simply fell in love with instant/self foaming cleansers. Before going on to my thoughts, here's a bit about my skin: I have slightly sensitive combination skin (more to the dry side).

♥ Fresh:
This is for all skin types and it claims to remove daily makeup, promote moisture retention and balances the skin. This cleanser is gentle, comes out in a gel form and forms foam (some). I use a good penny size and rubbing it a bit on my wet hands before circulating my face.  The is a slight soy/cucumber smell to it, some people are okay with it others not so much but it didn't bug me. It did leave my skin feeling soft, clean and definitely not dry. Other than that I didn't feel like it did much for me given paying this much.

♥ Caudalie:
Also for all skin type and claims to improve overall complexion wellbeing. Both Caudalie and Lancome are instant foaming cleansers with a good pump packaging. It is very easy and convient to use in my opinion because I can skip a step. It is very lightweight and leaves my skin feeling both smooth and soft. I like the fragrance of cleanser and it doesn't leave my skin dry either. I use atleast one full pump so this does get used up pretty fast. That being said I will definitely be repurchasing this again after using Lancome.

♥ Lancome:
According to the SA this is for combination dry skin that helps to soften and moisture the skin. Half a pump is more than enough for me. It is light weight but feels much creamier when massaging it to the face than Caudalie. My face feels really clean with this cleanser however it gives me that squeaky feeling which I haven't decide if im okay with. Given that squeaky feeling it doesn't you skin feel dry. Best valued given the price, volume and the amount you need to use.

♥ Overall
I like Caudalie's Instant foaming cleanser the best by far in terms of price point and what it does.

♥ Price....Fresh: USD 38/ HKD 340 for 150ml
                    Caudalie: USD 26/ HKD 220 for 150ml
                    Lancome: USD 32/ HKD 260 for 200ml
